5 nabbed as robbers invade Ogun church, abduct member

The police have arrested five suspected armed robbers after they invaded and robbed worshippers at the Christ Apostolic Church at Gudugbe Alagbon area of Wasimi in Ewekoro Local Government Area of Ogun State.

The suspects, said to be members of a syndicate, beat up worshippers and kidnapped one Mrs. Mojisola Atolagbe.

Those arrested are Abubakar Ibrahim (38), Sulaiman Yusuf (32), Ismail Yusuf (20), Umar Aliu (26) and Yinusa Musa.

Obisesan Seye, who is the shepherd in charge of the church, reportedly put a call to the police alerting them that while vigil was in progress in the church at about 20:00am, six armed men invaded the church and attacked members and dispossessed them of valuables.

The state’s police spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said following receipt of the call, policemen swiftly moved to the scene and thereafter combed the forest where the hoodlums escaped to and arrested five of them.
