5 killed in Edo crash

At least five people were killed in a crash at Jattu junction in Auchi on the Benin-Abuja highway in Edo state on Sunday.

Six others sustained injuries.

Witness said a truck coming  toward Benin and laden with cement  lost control and rammed into several vehicles held up in traffic at the junction.

The Edo state Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Anthony Oko, who confirmed the accident, said it was a mutiple accident.

The Sector Commander however attributed the accident to tyre burst.

He said, “Fifteen people were involved in in the accident, five died while six sustain various degree of injuries.  seven vehicles were involved in the accident.”
