The Kannywood movie scene can boast of a talented generation of actors that have continued to shine brightly on screen over the years. This week, Weekend Magazine takes a look at some of them.

Fati Muhammad

Her debut role in the movie Da Babu shot her to superstardom, after which she became a household name. Although she briefly took a hiatus from acting in the early 2000s, she bounced back and continues to shine on screen, staring in over 300 films over the course of her career.

Ali Nuhu

The King of Kannywood, as he is popularly known by, has been on the Kannywood scene for a good two decades. Since 1999, Ali Nuhu has started in hundreds of films in the industry such as Taurari, Mutallab, Sarauta and Kukan Zaki.

Hajara Usman began her career in the 1993 role of Gimbiya Fatima and also, in a range of Hausa drama shows on the NTA such as Bakan Gizo and Hadarin Kasa. Her performances gained her roles in many Kannywood movies later on including Laila, Babban Gida and Farin Wata.
