A Hausa proverb that says “a good ending can be reflected at the beginning” is currently at play in Kannywood for the year 2019; just in less than 30 days into the New Year, the waves are already vibrating with tidings of great exploits under way from the entertainment giant based in the ancient city as set of blockbuster movies get set to hit the screen for its teaming fans.
The films which have been woven around different social issues to entertain and enlighten the public, feature some of the multi-talented and influential Kannywood veterans including Ali Nuhu, the christened King of Kannywood and Prince Adam A. Zango, Nafisa Abdullahi, Maryam Yahaya, Umar M. Shareef among many others.
Few among the films are:
1 Alummar mu:
This is one of the most anticipated Hausa movies billed for release in February. The story was meant to promote religious tolerance, trust and mutual respect among Nigerians of different religious beliefs. The film was the latest of Malam Mubarak Abba, the producer of Siyasa ko kabilanci, Duniya da lahira, Bakin Zinari.
Alummar mu reflects a Christian and Muslim homes that have lived in peace and harmony over the years; however, their failure to approach politics devoid of religious sentiments threw the neighbourhood into crisis that claimed lives and properties on both sides.
Prominent faces that featured in the movie are Ibrahim Maishiko, Nafisa Abdullahi and Al-amin Buhari among many other prominent veterans.
2. Hafeez:
This is one of the Ali Nuhu’s projects for the year. The film which has passed through all production stages will premiere in the cinema very soon. The film features most prominent characters in the Kannywood among who are Ali Nuhu, Umar M. Shareef, Maryam Yahaya and others. The story was conceived by Umar M. Shareef and it was produced by Abdullahi Bashir Maishadda with Ali Nuhu as director.
3 Sadauki:
This is an epic most anticipated among the lovers of old Hausa tradition due to be released soon. Prominent among the characters are the prince of Kannywood Adam A Zango, Fati Washa, Abdul M. Shareef, Rashida Lobbo and Isa Adams among others. The film was produced and directed by Hassan Giggs.
4. Sareena:
This is a love story produced by Abdullahi Bashir Maishadda with Ali Nuhu as director.
