Five former aides of Borno state governor, Kashim Shettima, have been elected into various federal constituencies in the state, following announcement of results of last Saturday’s National Assembly election in the state by INEC.
They include four immediate-past Borno state Commissioners and one former state chairman of humanitarian agency, Borno SEMA.
They are: former Commissioner of Health, Dr. Haruna Mshelia; his counterparts from Higher Education, Hon. Ahmadu Usman Jaha; Water Resources, Dr. Zainab Gimba; and Local Government and Emirate Affairs, Hon. Usman Zannah who won the House of Representatives seats on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) with wide margin in their respective constituencies.
Also, former Executive Chairman of SEMA and BORMA, Engr. Satomi Ahmed of the All Progressives Congress (APC) equally won Jere Federal constituency having polled 82,370 voted to defeat Bukar Shuwa of the PDP who got 8, 911 votes.
Dr. Mshelia contested for the House of Representatives, Askira – Uba/Hawul Federal Constituency and scored 51,763, while PDP trailed second with 30,560 votes with a difference of 21,203.
Dr. Zainab is popularly known as iron women due to how she defied all odds to emerge the party’s candidate during the APC primary elections last September and being the only female elected politicians from Borno state.
Dr. Zainab contested for House of Representatives, Bama/Ngala/Kala-Balge federal constituency. She polled 73,837 votes to win against her closest rival, Fatima Zara Saleh of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who got 6,228 votes.
Similarly, Hon. Usman Zanah emerged the winner of Kaga/Magumeri/Gubio federal constituency having polled 30,683 against the PDP’s Bilal Ali who got 7,722 votes.
Meanwhile, Hon. Ahmadu Usman Jaha emerged the winner of Chibok/Damboa/Gwoza federal constituency having polled 151,031 votes against Zanna Mohammed Abbagana of the PDP who got 21,351 votes.
