The Kano State Fire Service has confirmed the death of five youths who died while digging sand at Kauyen Yan Lami in Bichi Local Government Area of the state.
Confirming the incident, the service’s Public Relations Officer, Saminu Yusuf Abdullahi, said the young men lost their lives while digging sand to be used in building a house for their friend who is about to get married.

“When our men arrived at the scene of the incident, the five young men were already dead inside the place they were digging the sand.
“The victims are one 22-year-old Alasan Abdulhamid, Muhammad Sulaiman, 35; Dauda Nasir, 25; Jibrin Musa, 30 and Jafaru Abdulwahabu also 30.”
He added that the command has handed over the corpse of the victims to the district head of Yan Lami for burial according to Islamic rites.
