5 arraigned over destruction of APC campaign banners

Five people have been arraigned before a Magistrate court in Kano over alleged destruction of campaign banners belonging to the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) in the state.

The accused were charged with criminal conspiracy, mischief and inciting disturbance contrary to Sections 97, 114 and 327 of the Penal Code Law.

According to the Police First Information Report, Abubakar Halliru of Tarai Village, Kibiya LGA, Kano, conspired with Bala Baffa, Tijjani Ali Rugu-Rugu, Sani Asabe, Bala Faska all of Tudun Wada LGA, Kano who are now at large, to maliciously break and destroy APC banners containing pictures of the President Muhammadu Buhari and the Governor of Kano state, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje with intention to cause breach of public peace.

The presiding judge, ChiefMagistrate Ibrahim Khalil Mahmood adjourned the case till 7th February, 2019 for continuation.
