The Country Manager of Ericsson Nigeria, Mr. Johan Jemdahl, has said that the affordability of 4G enabled devices will boost broadband penetration in Nigeria.

Presenting Ericsson’s 10 hot consumer trends for 2017: Artificial Intelligence, (AI) and virtual reality in Lagos, Jemdahl also said that consumers expect Artificial Intelligence, (AI), to move from assistants to managers.

He said that virtual reality will be indistinguishable from physical reality in three years.

The manager noted that 35 percent of advanced internet users want an AI advisor at work and one in four would like it as their manager.

Reflecting on the rise of virtual reality, the Head of Research, Ericsson ConsumerLab, Michael Bjorn said: “Beyond real time, I believe we should be talking about reality time. In fact, what we call reality becomes ever more personal and subjective.”

Bjorn noted that “consumers not only surround themselves with the like-minded on social networks, but are also starting to customize the way they experience the world with augmented and virtual reality technologies.”
