Forty nine suspected kidnappers have been arrested by security operatives at the Kashimbila Forest in Takum Local Government Area of Taraba State, Daily Trust gathered.
Our correspondent learnt from a resident of the area, Bulus Gampi, that the security operatives arrived the area in a helicopter.
Gamti said, “The soldiers were from Abuja and were joined by other soldiers from the army barracks inTakum.”
The source said the Kashimbila Forest, located on the border of Taraba and Benue states, had been a den of notorious terrorist, Gana, and his gang.
It was not clear, however, if Gana was among the suspects arrested and reportedly taken to Abuja by the security operatives.
When contacted, the police spokesman in Taraba State, DSP David Misal, said the police command in the state was not aware of the operation. He said it was a military operation and might not be necessary to involve the police.
