Detectives from the Ojo Police Division of the Lagos State Police Command at the weekend raided shanties along the canal in the Alaba International Market area in Ojo, arrested 48 suspected members of criminal gangs and recovered different types of guns, cutlasses and other weapons.
City & Crime had reported that robbers had continued to lay siege between Alakija and Volks Bus Stop on the Mile 2-Badagry Expressway, Lagos, and rob travelers.
Based on the report, the Commissioner of Police (CP), Idowu Owohunwa, ordered a full scale police operation in the Ojo axis of the road to weed out all criminal elements who had converted the highway into a haven for their operations.
The command’s spokesman, Benjamin Hundeyin, who confirmed the arrest on his official Twitter handle, said the team acted on credible information.
