4,580 IDPs get palliatives in Katsina

No fewer than 4,580 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Faskari and Batsari Local Government Areas of Katsina State have received some relief materials.

The palliatives were provided by Katsina-born chief executive officers of some federal government agencies and parastatals, as part of efforts to bring succour to the people affected by the activities of bandits in the state.

In his address during the distribution of the relief materials in Faskari over the weekend, the Managing Director, Federal Mortgage Bank, Alhaji Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, said the materials include 90 dozens of children wears for 1,080 children, women wrappers for 2,000 women, and male clothing materials for 1,500 men.

Other materials according to him were cream, toilet and washing soap for the 2,000 women.

Also in his remarks, the Managing Director of SMEDAN, Dr. Dikko Radda, said about N12 million was expended for the purchase of the materials, which were shared among the IDPs in the two affected LGAs.

In his address, Governor Aminu Masari expressed appreciation to the federal appointees for the collective support, which he said was in addition to what they have been doing individually for the state.

He called on residents of the affected areas to remain resolute and support security agencies by exposing whosoever they know were aiding the bandits in order to bring the problem to an end.

The heads of agencies include those of Nigerian Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ahmed Rufai Abubakar; Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA), Engr Nura Rafindadi; Federal Mortgage Bank, Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, and Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet), Prof. Sani A. Mashi.

Others were those of Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (SMEDAN) Dr Dikko Radda; Nigerian Security Minting and Printing Company, Alhaji Abbas Umar; Nexim Bank, Alh. Abba Bello; Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) Dr Mansur Liman; and Nigerian Ports Authority, Hadiza Bala Usman.
