A 41-year-old Quranic teacher in Kano metropolis has been arrested for allegedly defiling his 8-year-old student.
Daily Trust gathered that the crime was committed at the residence of the victim where the purported teacher was contracted to teach the victim (name withheld) and her elder sister how to recite the Holy Qur’an.
The spokesman, Kano police command, S P Magaji Musa Majia who confirmed the arrest to Daily Trust identified the suspect as Aminu Musa, a resident of Layin Umaru Kiru Dakata Kawaji Qtrs.
He said the crime was committed on Tuesday, November 20th, at around 5:30pm during their routine Quranic lesson hours.
Majia said the suspect was caught pants down by the elder sister of the victim before he was handed to the police.
He said the victim’s sister had also presented to the police the video recordings of the crime scene as evidence against the suspect.
“In his confessional statement he (suspect) admitted that he was tempted into the crime when the girl asked him to assist her write some portions of the Holy Quran on her slate; in the process of doing that he started curdling her breast and eventually removed her cloth and had a carnal knowledge of her” police said.
Majia said the girl was taken to the hospital where penetration was confirmed by the experts, adding that the command is going on with further investigations after which the suspect would be charged to court for prosecution.
In another development Majia also confirmed the arrest of a two-man gang of anal sex workers enticing unsuspecting male victims into the unholy act from various quarters of Kano City.
He identified the suspects as Suraja Shehu of Layin Lale Cinema Gorondutse Qtrs and Yahaya Sharif of Rijiyar Lemo Qtrs respectively.
He said the suspects go around to identify prominent men within the city and obtain their mobile contacts through which they establish a homo sexual relationship with the willing targets and the unwilling ones they blackmail for sodomy.
Majia said the suspects were using whatsApp messenger to share phone numbers and other scandalous information about their unwilling targets to ridicule them and smear their reputation.
He said sometimes the suspects demand ransom from their targets, threatening to divulge the secrets on social media and private local Radio Stations if their ransom terms are not met.
