41-year-old Prof. Aisha Sani Maikudi has formally taken over the administration of the University of Abuja (UniAbuja).

Prof Maikudi will be in acting capacity pending the ratification of her appointment by the yet-to-be inaugurated Governing Council.

She was handed over affairs of the university at a brief ceremony held at the university campus in Abuja, on Monday.

She took over at the end of the five-year tenure of Prof. Abdul-Rasheed Na’Allah as Vice Chancellor.

In her acceptance remarks, the Acting VC appreciated Prof. Na’Allah whose leadership and vision have guided the University to place of recognition globally.

“Your tireless dedication and unwavering commitment to the university have laid a solid foundation for us to build upon, and for that, we are deeply grateful.,” she said.

She highlighted that her administration will focus on six areas which includes; Academic Excellence, Research and innovation, Students Success, Staff Welfare Opportunities, Community Engagement, and Inclusivity and Diversity.

Speaking, Prof. Na’Allah said the last five years have been a memorable journey and experience for him piloting the affairs of the university, prodding himself to have made some great decisions and moves that have brought great academic and non-academic development to the university.

“It was five years of excitement, great opportunity to work together and raise the banners of the great UniAbuja which can be regarded as University for National Unity,” he said.

“I am grateful to every student and staff member for their love and support, and I apologise to those who, in whatever way, might have felt offended by any of my actions as Vice Chancellor. My goal was always to go for the best, no matter how difficult.

“I have no doubt that the University of Abuja would continue to achieve its destiny of greatness and nothing and no one would take it backward.”
