Mr Lalu, during a press briefing yesterday to highlight the achievements of the commission a year after its establishment, stated that it was working round the clock for attitudinal change for PWDs not to be viewed as a burden to communities but as agents of change.
While commending the present administration for recognising the PWDs who had been neglected since the inception of democracy in Nigeria, Lalu said scholarships would also be given to students with disabilities.
He further said the commission would soon embark on trainings for structural engineers on how to build standard ramp as the five-year moratorium on rejigging of public infrastructure was coming to an end.
He added that the commission was yet to begin the implementation and prosecution of those who violated the 2018 Discrimination Act Against Persons with Disabilities as it was trying to sensitise the public on the act.
