The Chairman Lagos State Law Reform Commission, Prof. Gbolahan Elias (SAN), has disclosed over 4,000 lawyers are called to the Nigerian bar every year.
He said the nation was already having more than 100,000 practicing lawyers competing for recognition in the labour market.
Prof. Elias was speaking on the topic: “Challenges and Prospects for Young Lawyers in a Law Firm in a Developing Society” at the valedictory session for the 2017/2018 academic session of the College of Law, Igbinedion University, Okada, Edo State. He said for them to be relevant in the competitive profession, they had to embrace professionalism, discipline and read very wide.
The Dean, College of Law, Igbinedion University, Prof. Rasheed Jimoh, advised the students to be hard working and focused in other to succeed and excel at the Law School.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Eghosa Osaghae, said graduates of Law programmes from the institution had always done it proud within and outside the country.
