A 400-level medical student of Usmanu Danfodio University Sokoto, Kabiru Sani, has emerged as the overall winner in the male category in Kebbi State Qur’anic recitation competition.
Sani, who emerged the best in memorisation of 60 hifz of the Holy Qur’an, got a prize of a tricycle.
Under the female category for the recitation of 60 hifz of the Holy Quran, an Islamic Teacher, Hamida Bala, emerged the overall winner and went away with the same prize as her male counterpart.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of the competition on Thursday in Birnin Kebbi, the state governor, Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, said there was a plan in the offing to invest over N250 million in Islamic schools in the state.
Bagudu added that each of the selected 504 schools would access the sum of N500,000 out of the proposed fund.
Bagudu, who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Suleman Mohammed Argungu, said the proposed fund would be spent on renovation and equipping of the schools.
He said out of the N500,000 for each of the schools, the sum of N100,000 cash would be given to them while the remaining amount would be used in renovating the schools.
