The Commissioner of Police in Taraba State, Mr David Iloyanomon, said police officers and hunters have rescued 40 kidnap victims in the state.
He said they were rescued from the kidnappers’ den located on top of mountains in Yorro and Zing local government areas of the state.
The police commissioner disclosed this while briefing newsmen in Jalingo, the state capital, on Monday.
He said the success was achieved as a result of the strategic collaboration with the local hunters, who are familiar with the terrain.

“We deployed another strategy of using the local hunters and vigilantes, who dislodged them and neutralised many of the bandits,” he said.
He also disclosed that 10 kidnappers were arrested while trying to escape from their hideout on the mountain.
Iloyanomon said that the rescued victims were taken to the police clinic in Jalingo for treatment and would be reunited with their families after they were certified fit by doctors.
He said the police would enhance the collaboration with local hunters and vigilantes in the fight against bandits in the state.
