At least four travellers have been killed while seven others sustained varying degrees of injuries when they stepped on landmine along Maiduguri/Gomboru Ngala highway in Dikwa Local Government Area of Borno State, sources said.
The incident occurred around Gajibo village at about 1.45pm on Saturday. Among the four persons killed were three women.
According to a security source who spoke to Daily Trust on Sunday, a Sharon car drove on an improvised explosive device (IED) planted by suspected Boko Haram insurgents near the scene a fortnight ago.
“There was a landmine attack this afternoon at Gajibo community in Dikwa LGA; four persons died instantly and other passengers sustained serious injuries.

“The incident took place near the scene of last IEDs explosion that killed some CJTF a week ago. The vehicle was damaged beyond repair,” said the security source.
The Nigerian Army is yet to react to the incident.
