4 traffic robbers nabbed in Lagos

The operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) have arrested four notorious traffic robbers around Abiola Garden area of Ojota in Lagos.

Those arrested are: Adewale Ismaila, 30years; Chinadu Okafor 26years; Tote Victor,19years and 20-year-old Abdulahi Olalere also known as ‘Orobo’.

Commander of Rapid Response Squad, CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi, disclosed that the four traffic robbers were arrested by the surveillance team of the Agency at the early hours of Thursday.

The surveillance team according to Egbeyemi were deployed to monitor the Ikorodu road axis in reaction to series of complaints of early morning robbery attacks by motorists including residents around Owode Onirin, Mile 12, Ketu down to Ojota axis.

“Our surveillance team pretended as if their vehicle had mechanical problem at about 6:30am beside Abiola Garden and within five minutes, these criminals came out with dangerous weapons demanding for their wallets and other valuables before they were all apprehended,” he said.

According to a statement by the RRS Head of Public Affairs Unit, Adebayo Taofiq; one of the arrested traffic robbers, Abdulahi Olalere confessed to belong to a robbery gang that specializes in attacking and robbing innocent motorists of their belongings in the early hour along Ikorodu road.

He was also said to have confirmed that his gang was responsible for early morning robbery attack on innocent motorists around China Town and tipper garage at Ketu area of Ikorodu road on Tuesday.

Further investigation revealed that Olalere was recently released from one of Correctional Centers where he served six months jail term for same robbery incidents last year.
