The Police Force Headquarters on Sunday confirmed four officers dead and another one missing in the Friday’s bandit attack on its personnel traveling from Minna, Niger State to Kano along the Birnin Gwari-Funtua Road.
Force spokesman, Frank Mba, in a statement sent to Daily Trust by the Kaduna Police Public Relations Officer, Mohammed Jalige, said the officers were 16 in number attached to Police Mobile Force – 9 PMF Squadron, Kano.

He said the officers had been attached to Operation Puff Adder deployed to Niger State in the sustained operation to reclaim public space and tackle incidents of banditry, kidnapping and other violent crimes in the area.
Mba said: “The remaining 11 officers led by their unit commander successfully recovered the bodies and firearms of their fallen colleagues while concerted efforts are being intensified to rescue the officer still missing,” he said.
