The event had in attendance many Nollywood actors, personalities from the corporate world, the academia and government circles. Various artistes from parts of the country also came to honour the inductees. Some of them include Stella Damasus, AGN helmsman Segun Arinze, the Mamuzee twins, Klint the Drunk, Stainless, Francis Duru, Rita Dominic and Ibinabo Fiberesima. The event was spiced up with musical performances from established and upcoming Abuja musicians and interspersed with comic performances by the trio of Francis Duru, Klint the Drunk and Abuja’s upcoming comic act, Stainless Precious.
Mr. Dennis Orjime, General Manager of the Hotel who spoke on behalf of the management said the event was principally put together to celebrate Nigeria’s vibrant entertainment industry, give honour to whom it was due and also enumerate the fruits of the productive partnership that has existed over the years between the corporate world and the nation’s entertainment industry. ‘Nollywood has been of immense benefits to the nation as a whole since its establishment over the years. It has created numerous jobs for our teeming youths; it has provided entertainment on a daily basis for Nigerians. It has projected positively the cultural norms and values of our country for the outside world to view and appreciate. It has continued to be a source of inspiration for other industries. It is only fitting that we celebrate excellence and also strengthen the partnership between the corporate world and the nation’s rapidly growing entertainment world.’ He added that the hotel would continue to support the laudable objectives of the entertainment industry so that more quality products and movies can be produced.
Highpoint of the occasion was the unveiling of life size portraits of the celebrated stars and its introduction into its famed Nollywood Hall of Fame, to the admiration and applause of the invited guests. The occasion also witnessed the investiture of the National Patron of the Actors Guild.
Other actors and actresess who have been so honoured in the past by the hotel’s management include Zack Orji, Francis Duru, Kanayo O Kanayo, Segun Arinze, Patience Ozokwor and Richard Mofe Damijo.
