4 nabbed for robbery, impersonation in Nyanya

She said they were arrested during a stop and search operation

The police have arrested two armed robbery suspects and two impostors at Nyanya, Abuja.

In a statement, the FCT Police Command’s spokesperson, ASP Maryam Yusuf, gave the names of the robbery suspects as James Salifu (27) and Umar Hamza.

She said they were arrested during a stop and search operation on their way to rob a vehicle and that they confessed to being members of a syndicate terrorising Nyanya.

According to her, exhibits recovered from them included two locally made pistols, four rounds of live ammunition and charms.

ASP Yusuf also disclosed that two suspects, Patrick John and Chinyere Ikenna, were arrested for posing as soldiers and defrauding members of the public.

She said they were arrested while attempting to rob a motorcycle around Nyanya bridge and that a motorcycle and military camouflage were recovered from them.

She urged residents to remain calm while reaffirming her command’s commitment to rid the FCT of every form of criminality and protect lives and property.
