Four months after two-year-old Ivan Omorhiakogbe was killed by stray bullets from operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), the Delta State Government and the agency have disclosed plans to fly his sibling to the US for medical attention.
City & Crime reports that Ivan Omorhiakogbe was killed by the operatives inside his mother’s shop during a raid on drug peddlers in the Okpanam area of Asaba on July 13, while his one-year-old, sibling Eromonsele Omorhiakogbe, was shot on his left eye.
Speaking on the health of the child who has been receiving treatment at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Asaba, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori said he had instructed the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) to give a letter to the family to get US visas to enable further treatment of the child abroad.
Oborevwori disclosed this when the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of NDLEA Brig Gen Buba Marwa (Rtd), visited him after a condolence visit to the family of the two victims in Asaba.

The governor, who described the incident as unfortunate, noted that the development would not stop the state government from supporting the fight against drug trafficking and substance abuse.
On his part, Gen Marwa said the agency was working towards processing and fast tracking travel arrangements to sponsor the injured child to the US.
