4 killed, 3 injured as herders, locals clash in Kaduna

A clash between some locals and herders in Jankasa village, Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State has claimed four lives with three injured.

 The Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, confirmed the incident in a statement.

 Aruwan identified those killed to include Luka Nelson, Timothy Koni, Pasi Peter and George Frances, while the injured that included Daniel Dauda, Extra James and Henry Frances were currently receiving treatment in a hospital.

 The clash, which occurred along some cattle routes in the area, escalated into a fight between the two groups before the security forces arrived to bring the situation under control.

 The statement said the security agencies reported that unknown gunmen attacked some settled herders at Manchok, Kaura LGA, adding that the security agencies’ report showed that it was an apparent reprisal to the initial clash.

 “Thirteen cows have been confirmed killed so far. Troops recovered 25 cows alive from the area. No human casualties have been reported, as search operations continue,” said the statement

 Meanwhile, Governor Nasir E-Rufai has expressed his sadness at the deadly clash and prayed for the repose of the souls of those killed.

 He also condemned the unfortunate attacks amidst efforts to restore stability to the general areas and appealed to members of the community and to all citizens, to uphold lawful actions over violent conduct at all times.
