A Bayelsa State High Court sitting in Ogbia town in Ogbia LGA has sentenced four kidnappers to 40 years in prison each.
The four were found guilty of the abduction of a former Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Hon Federal Otokito, in 2022, and demanding a ransom.
The Justice S. W. Amaduobogha, while delivering judgement on Thursday, held that Kingsley Obhesi (24), Joshua Abi (32), Gift Damene (38) and Powell Inegite (36) were guilty as charged of conspiracy, kidnapping and unlawful possession of firearms.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Stella Jerry-Friday, told the court that the defendants, on January 20, 2022, in Ogbia LGA, armed with guns, unlawfully kidnapped Hon Federal Oparminola Otokito and demanded a ransom.
