Four passengers were feared killed on Tuesday in a road accident in Enugu State.

Daily Trust reports that the accident, which involved nine vehicles, occurred at about 7pm on the Ugwu-Onyeama hilly road.

It was gathered that the accident happened when a truck loaded with kerosene suffered brake failure and rammed into several oncoming vehicles.

When contacted on Wednesday, the Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Enugu State, Mr Adeyemi Sokunbi, confirmed the development.

He, however, said only two men died in the accident while 10 others were injured.

He further said, “We went there for rescue. My men were there till around 9pm. Two male adults died.”

Meanwhile, the Enugu State Police Command said four persons died in the accident.

The command’s spokesperson, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, in a text message, said, “It’s a case an accident that claimed four and not 25 lives, please.”
