A clash between rival cult groups, Black Axe and Supreme Vikings, has reportedly claimed no fewer than four lives in Auchi Polytechnic, Edo State.
The renewed cult war, it was gathered, started when a youth corps member alleged to be a member of the Black Axe confraternity was allegedly shot and injured by a suspected Supreme Vikings confraternity member.
City & Crime learnt that in a reprisal, a member of Vikings was reportedly killed around Mr Biggs in the area, while three others were killed around Mechanic Site on Vacchi and Winners Road in Auchi.
Reacting, Auchi Polytecnic’s spokesperson, Mrs Adebola Ogunboyowa, said there was no cult fight in the polytechnic community.

She said the school ended its SPAT examinations on Friday and that students were expected to vacate their halls of residence on Saturday.
She explained that, “The allegation is not true. But in the first place, whatever is happening, maybe the issue of cult clashes, didn’t happen in the polytechnic community.
“As I speak right now, I am in school and nothing is happening within the polytechnic community.
“Whatever it is, is happening outside the polytechnic community because we have surrounding host communities; we have no power over it.”
Meanwhile, Edo State police spokesman, Chidi Nwabuzor, said he was going to contact the DPO of Auchi to ascertain the situation.
