The police spokesman in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi, on Monday, said the arrests were in continuation of the anti-cult war and other vices in the state by the command.

Oyeyemi said the four members of the dreaded Aiye cult group were reasonably suspected to be responsible for the murder of Onifade on April 20.

According to him, the suspects, who have been on the wanted list of the command, were arrested following information received by policemen at the Ilaro Divisional.

He said the police got a tip-off that the suspects were holding a nocturnal meeting behind Eleja Primary school, Igbo-Ewe, Ilaro, and that the DPO, CSP Olayemi Jacob, mobilised his men and moved to the scene where the four were arrested.

Oyeyemi said two locally made pistols, four live cartridges, an axe, five handsets, charms, weeds suspected to be Indian hemp and one unregistered Bajaj motorcycle were recovered from the suspects.
