Their arrest followed a manhunt launched after reports of a series of attacks on drivers were received.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, who confirmed the arrest, said the gang on August 7, 2022, attacked passengers in two cars; a 2010 Lexus RX 350 SUV, and a 2006 Toyota Camry saloon car, and snatched their iPhones and other valuables at gunpoint.

He said three locally made pistols, one locally made semi-automatic pistol and 12 live cartridges were recovered from the gang.

He said “Efforts are ongoing to arrest their criminal receiver of stolen goods, and possible recovery of other items stolen by the gang in the past. Suspects will be arraigned at the end of the investigation.”
