4 arrested, 3 rescued as police smash kidnapping gang in Imo

Men of the anti-kidnapping unit of the Imo State Police Command have arrested four persons who are said to be part of a gang terrorising the people of Amaigbo in Nwangele Local Government Area of the state.

They also rescued three people, including an elderly woman, from the abductors.

Our correspondent gathered that the syndicate had its hideout in Umuozu, a neighbouring community to Amaigbo.

It was learnt that a victim escaped from the gang and thereafter informed the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) who mobilised members of the Amaigbo Security Watch (ASW) to their hideout.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, CSP Mike Abattam, did not answer his calls.
