Nigerian National League side, 3SC football club better known as Shooting Stars of Ibadan on Tuesday defeated their more illustrious opponents Lobi Stars 1-0 to be crowned champions of the second edition of Governor Dapo Abiodun Pre-season tournament in Ijebu-Ode.
The once dreaded Shooting Stars had won the inaugural edition of the tournament last year.
To reach the finals, Lobi Stars defeated hard fighting Kwara United 1-0 and 3SC walked to the finals on a platter following Rivers United decision to exit the tournament at the last minute.
Although favoured to win the final match, Lobi Stars failed to recover from the goal scored in the third minute of the match by Olafimihan Gafar.
The early goal didn’t surprise many because Lobi Stars in recent times have formed the bad habit of conceding early goals before fighting back to win.
Unfortunately, they ran out of luck against 3SC who didn’t allow them back into the match that was decided at the Dipo Dina stadium in Ijebu-Ode.
Thus, at the end of the 90 minutes, 3SC emerged back to back winners of the Pre-season football tournament.
