39 parties adopt PDP candidates in Gombe

Less than 24 hours to the governorship and state House of Assemblies election, 39 opposition political parties under the banner of Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) has adopted candidates of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Gombe state.

A statement issued to newsmen on Thursday signed by the CUPP chairman, Mohammed Sani Adamu, said the parties have endorsed the PDP gubernatorial candidate, Senator Usman Bayero Nafada and all the 24 candidates for the state assembly seats.

According to the CUPP, the endorsement followed the appreciation of the fact that, “the PDP led administration in the state has done very well in terms of development in education, infrastructural, agriculture and improved healthcare system.”

“As leaders of the CUPP, we arrived at this decision after a careful review of the two leading candidates and adopted Senator Bayero and all the candidates fielded by the PDP because of their credibility,” Adamu said.

Some of the parties that adopted the PDP and its candidates are; Labour Party (LP), Progressives People Alliance (PPA), Mass Action Joint Alliance (MAJA), Peoples for Democratic Change (PDC), Young Peoples Party (YPP), All Grassroots Alliance (AGA), Grassroots Democratic Party of Nigeria (GDPN) and Liberation Movement.

Other parties are Green Party of Nigeria (GPN), Save Nigeria Congress (SNC), United Patriots (UP), Peoples Coalition Party (PCP), Nigeria Elements Progressive Party (NEPP), Mega Party of Nigeria (MPN), Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) and Yes Party.
