38-year-old female journalist seeks N5m for brain surgery

A 38-year-old female journalist in Bauchi State, Hafsat Abdulhamid Adebayo, is has appealed for financial assistance to undergo a brain tumour surgery.

Hafsat, who has been bedridden for the past four years, was diagnosed with a brain tumour at the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) following extensive efforts at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) in Bauchi.

Her elder sister, Aishat Abdulhamid, explained that Hafsat’s illness began four years ago.

She said, “She has suffered immensely. We have exhausted all our savings, and friends, family and colleagues have done their best to help. She underwent surgery last year, funded by the Bauchi State Government, which initially removed the tumour, and she was recovering at home.

“We are currently at JUTH, where we have been informed that she needs another emergency surgery. For over a week now, she has been unable to eat, talk or walk. The consultant has scheduled the surgery for this week. We appeal to Nigerians for assistance. May God bless everyone who helps.”
