No fewer than 3,535 farmers in Kaduna State are to receive farm inputs worth N644,999,705.07 during the 2020 wet season.
The state chairman of the Maize Growers, Processors and Marketers Association of Nigeria (MAGPAMAN), Alhaji Lawal Maishanu Gazara, made this known during the flag-off of the distribution of the inputs.
He said the programme was being operated under the CBN/Eco Bank Anchor Borrowers Scheme and each farmer would receive inputs worth N182,461.02.
“Plans are also in top gear to provide equipment for processing of high quality maize flour in the state. I wish to enjoin the beneficiaries for prompt repayment of the loan to enable other members benefit,” Gazara said.
Alhaji Ismail Adamu, Development Finance Officer, Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Kaduna, said the scheme was aimed at enhancing the financial status of the peasant farmers in Nigeria.
Alhaji Adamu cautioned the beneficiaries to desist from selling the inputs.
The National Chairman of MAGPAMAN, Dr. Edward Uche, reminded the beneficiaries that they were expected to repay the loan after harvest.
He urged farmers in areas being attacked by bandits not to abandon their farms.
