A thirty-one-year-old woman, Oluwasikemi Olajiga, has allegedly killed a seven-year-old girl, Fadare Demilade, in Ado-Ekiti.

Demilade was allegedly killed by Olajiga when she was sent on an errand.

But the parents of the suspect claimed she is mentally unstable.

Meanwhile, the Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, Mr Tunde Mobayo, has ordered an investigation into the alleged murder of the girl.

The PPRO, Sunday Abutu, said the mother of the deceased child reported the matter at Oke-lla police station on December 6, 2021 at about 10:30am.

She reported that her seven-year-old daughter, Fadare Demilade, was sent to buy pap but did not return after about three hours.

Abutu noted that at about 6:30pm of the same day, Mr and Mrs Olajiga came to Oke-lla police station and reported that the corpse of the girl was found inside the room of their ‘insane’ daughter and opined that she must have killed the little girl.

“The command operatives from Oke-lla police station moved to the scene where the body of Fadare Demilade was recovered from a sack with multiple stabs.

“She was rushed to Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH) where a medical doctor confirmed her dead.

The suspects and the parents have been arrested and are currently undergoing interrogation.

The CP, Tunde Mobayo, sympathised with the family of the deceased and assured that a thorough investigation would be conducted and justice served.
