How 300 level varsity student died while playing football

A 300 Level student of the Department of Microbiology, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife in Osun State, Akorede Kayode Omotola, on Friday, slumped and died while playing football with other students on campus.

Eyewitnesses said he slumped on the football pitch during a match and that he was rushed to the university’s health center but he died before getting to the clinic.

The Public Relations Officer of the University, Abiodun Olarewaju, in a telephone chat with Daily Trust, confirmed the death of the student.

The PRO said management of the university was sad over the demise of the student.

Olarewaju said: “He was rushed to the University Health Centre where he was confirmed dead on arrival. All measures to resuscitate him proved abortive.”
