About 30 Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) have been issued the mandatory conformity assessment certificate (MANCAP) in Niger State to standardised their products.
The certificate, which was issued in Minna by the Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON) was to ensure that locally manufactured products provide the required satisfaction to consumers.
Speaking during the presentation of the certificates, Director General of SON, Mallam Faruk A. Salim, said the organisation has been issuing the certificate to products that have successfully met the requirements stipulated in the Nigeria industrial standard.
Salim, who was represented by the state Coordinator of SON, Hajia Hauwa N. Yusuf, said the certification was an attestation that such company’s brands conformed to standards and have undergone intensive conformity assessment.
“We are also guaranteeing that the product can be sold in Nigeria and used in any other country in the world. Thus, we are winning the consumer’s confidence and also assisting made in Nigeria products to cross the border to the international market,” he said.
Some of the manufacturers who expressed satisfaction over the issuance of the certificate said it will spur them to produce more items and gives them the opportunity to explore international markets since their products have been certified.
