3 women missing in 24 hours – Kwara fire service

The Kwara State Fire Service has lamented the increasing cases of missing women in Ilọrin, the state capital.

The HOD of the service, Hassan Hakeem Adekunle, who disclosed this to our correspondent during a telephone chat on Tuesday following the recovery of the body of a woman in the Asa River last week, described the situation as worrisome.

He explained that the deceased, about 46 years old, was discovered at about 7pm on Thursday and deposited at the morgue of the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH).

He said that a police officer, SP Dolapo, of ‘B’ Division, Ilorin, alerted and summoned firemen to the scene of the incident.

Adekunle further said, “A daughter to the deceased, Ramata, came to our office in the company of some family members crying after the evacuation. She said the deceased still had a mother who was entrusted with her care in Opo Malu.

“But that they didn’t know when she sneaked out of the house to the river. But shortly after we recovered her corpse, we had two other reports of missing mothers by their family members from Taiwo Isale and Oke Aluko, all in Ilọrin.

“As we speak, we have nothing on their whereabouts.”

He attributed most of the missing cases to mental related issues.
