A Jos area court in Plateau State has sentenced three traders, Usman Ibrahim (29), Ibrahim Kabiru (36) and Mohammed Abubakar (30) to seven months’ in prison each for accusing a man of witchcraft and beating him up.

The Judge, Shawomi Bokkos, sentenced the defendants on Thursday after they pleaded guilty to the charges but gave them an option of N50,000 fine each and also ordered them to pay N100,000 each as compensation to the complainant.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp Monday Dabit, told the court that the case was reported on September 6, by one Zakari Sabo, the complainant.

The prosecutor said that the defendants attacked the complainant and accused him of witchcraft, beat him up, tore his clothes and broke his right hand before they were stopped contrary to the provisions of the Plateau State Penal Code. (NAN)
