Three teachers with the Government Secondary School (GSS) Rubochi in Kuje Area Council in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have died in a motor accident at Kwaita, along the Abuja-Lokoja road.

The deceased are Abubakar Yelwas, a bursar in the school; Yunusa Ladan, an assistant bursar in the school and Lazarus Makama, a teacher in the school.

A witness said the accident happened around 2;15pm on Friday, when the deceased left Rubochi for the weekend and their vehicle crashed near Kwaita bridge.

He said the late bursar, who resided in Tungan-Maje, was driving the Toyota Carina car when the accident happened.

The Rubochi branch chairman of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Mr Tanimu Taru, confirmed the accident.

“As am talking to you now, I am at the family residence of one of the deceased. The remains of the bursar, Abubakar Yelwas and his assistant are been buried according to Islamic rites on Friday,” he said on phone.

When contacted, the FCT sector commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Samuel Ogar Ochi, confirmed the incident on phone to our reporter.

He attributed the accident to over speeding.
