3 suspects terrorising Ibadan arrested, 6 stolen cars recovered

The Oyo State Police Command said it has arrested three robbery suspects terrorising Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, and recovered three Toyota Camry cars.

The suspects are Habeeb Azeez, Seun Azeez and Olawale Rasaq.

Briefing newsmen at the command’s headquarters in Ibadan, the Commissioner of Police, Nzogi Onadeko, said the success recorded was not unconnected with the purposeful proactive policing and swift response to complaints, credible information and suggestions from the citizenry.

She said, “On 25th March, 2022, at about 2000hrs some members of a notorious armed robbery syndicate who specialise in snatching exotic cars and other valuables invaded the residence of one Kunle Azeez at Idi-Ayunre area, Ibadan.

“The members of the criminal gang who were armed with sophisticated guns and some other dangerous weapons attacked the said Kunle Azeez and dispossessed him of his expensive cell phones, gold wristwatches, cash sum of N500,000 and his Toyota Corolla car with Reg No FST 33 EY.

“The armed robbers were later intercepted by police operatives who were on routine anti-crime patrol at Idi-Ayunre area along Ibadan/Ijebu-Ode road and in the process, the armed robbers abandoned the robbed car and fled.

“The case was later referred to this unit and after a discreet investigation, on 30th April, 2022, the kingpin of the armed robbery syndicate was arrested in his hideout.”
