3 policemen killed in attack on checkpoint in Abia

Gunmen have attacked a police checkpoint in Agu Eze Amaogudu, Abiriba, Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia State, killing three policemen.

The officers killed are named Inspector Austin Ugwu, Inspector Longinus Ugochukwu and Police constable Ama Ifeanyi.

The state deputy governor, Ude Chukwu, who visited the community in the company of security agents, said the state would deploy resources to ensure the protection of law-abiding citizens.

Speaking to the people at Orie Akwa square in the community, Chukwu who was accompanied on the visit by the state Commissioner for Information, John Kalu, called for community vigilance and support to security agents to ensure that the perpetrators were quickly identified and brought to justice.
