3 killed, 18 injured in Niger road accident

Three people have been confirmed dead while 18 others reportedly sustained severe injuries in a ghastly accident at 212 Farm, along Kontagora-Makera Road in Niger State.

The Niger State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kumar Tsukwam, told our correspondent that the lone crash involved a commercial bus with registration number SKT-142-DU traveling from Lagos to the Republic of Niger.

He said the bus had 22 occupants, 19 men and 3 women. He identified the driver of the vehicle as Umaru Mohammed.

Tsukwam said one person died on the spot while two others died later at the Kontagora General Hospital where they were taken for medical attention.

He said the corpses were deposited in a mortuary while eight of the injured victims were responding to treatment.

The sector commander attributed the crash to violation of speed limit.
