Three suspected kidnappers have been arrested by men of the Community Volunteer Guards in Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State.
Witnesses said that the suspects were apprehended on Monday at the Otukpo motor park by personnel as they were about to board a vehicle to Makurdi.
The suspects were alleged to have collected ransom from their captives and were attempting to leave for Makurdi, the state capital, when information reached the guards, thereby leading to their arrest.
The suspects were reportedly found with a large sum of money believed to be the ransom collected from their captives.
Witnesses said the BSCVG promptly handed them over to the police in Otukpo.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for Benue Command, Catherine Anene, confirmed the incident to our correspondent on telephone.
Anene added that the suspects were also linked to an armed robbery attack on a Benue Links vehicle last week on the Otukpa road in Ogbadigbo Local Government Area of the state, during which the driver was killed.
