A Niger State magistrates’ court sitting at Madalla in Suleja LGA has sentenced three friends to nine months imprisonment each for breaking into a tourism site at the Zuma Rock and stealing items, including the Nigerian flag.
The prosecutor, Blessing Y. Alkali, told the court that the accused, Faisal Saidu (25), Shehu Salisu (20) and Aminu Habibu (25), who came from Bida LGA of the state, broke into Zuma World, a tourism site opposite the Zuma Rock near Madalla town, and stole items, including the Nigerian flag, on October 9.

She said they thereafter went to a nearby house and stole items, including three mobile phones, a wristwatch and N40,000 cash.
The prosecutor also told the court that all the items they stole at Zuma World, including two uniforms, iron rods and Nigeria’s flag, were recovered in their possession after they were arrested by vigilantes.
The suspects pleaded guilty and sought leniency.
The Magistrate, Joy Asabe Shaba, sentenced them to six months imprisonment on the first charge, another six months on the second charge and nine months on the third charge.
However, the convicts were given an option to pay N30,000 each on the first and second offences and N50,000 each on the third charge.
