Three inmates have escaped from the Mandala Custodial Centre of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) in Ilorin, Kwara State.
The escapees, according to a report by Premium Times, were identified as Umaru Altine, a death row inmate convicted for armed robbery; Segun Nasiru and Isa Usman, both charged with armed robbery and awaiting trial.
“They escaped in the early hours of Thursday after cutting the iron of the cell,” the paper reported, referencing an internal communication of NCoS about the development.
Speaking with Daily Trust on Sunday yesterday, the spokesperson of NCoS, Francis Enobore, said investigation was ongoing regarding the matter.
