3 injured, as thugs snatch electoral materials in Enugu

Three persons were injured when thugs invaded Itchi Uwani Ward 006, polling centre  in  Igboeze South Local Government Area of Enugu State.
The Itchi Uwani is the ward of APC governorship candidate, Chief Okey Ezea, a.k.a Ideke.
Our correspondent who monitored the election in that area reports that seven armed thugs allegedly escorted by policemen driving in vehicles bearing ENGH, stormed the polling centre. It was gathered that the thugs shot sporadically into the air to scare voters before snatching the electoral materials. The thugs reportedly used broken bottles and inflicted serious injury Ezea’s elder brother, after beating him up.
Chief Ezea, who spoke to journalists when tension had doused in the polling centre, claimed that the attack was to prevent voting in the area, “just to create the impression that I am nobody and that my own people did not vote for me in my ward.”
