3 guards remanded for allegedly gang-raping lady in hostel

A Kwara State Magistrate Court sitting in Ilorin has ordered the remand of one Toyin Toheeb (21), Jamiu Abdullah (18) and Aliu Mustapha (18) at the federal correctional center for allegedly gang-raping an 18-year-old girl (name withheld).

The suspects were security guards at a private hostel in Malete.

Police said the case was reported by one Risikat Tanwa Saadu.

According to the police report, the suspects committed the crime when the victim went to the hostel in Malete to fetch water.

The charge sheet added that the suspects lured their victim into the security room at the hostel to have “unprotected non-consensual sexual intercourse with her.”

The police said the suspects confessed to the crime.

The prosecutor, Sergeant Mayowa, urged the court to remand them and Magistrate Ibrahim Dasuki ordered their remand and adjourned the case to May 7, for hearing.
