3 girls arraigned for defamation, threat to life in Kano

A Kano Shari’ah Court sitting in Gama PRP has remanded three female friends for defaming and threatening a female resident of Nassarawa Local Government Area of Kano State.

The offence is contrary to sections 120, 227 and 198 of the Kano State Penal Code Law (SPCL).

The accused are one Amina Dahiru, Sadiya Abdullahi and Fiddausi Yahaya, all residents of Nassarawa Local Government Area.

One Fiddausi Salisu reported to the police that the trio were threatening and accusing her of stealing a phone belonging to one of them.

She said the development led them to force her to their house and searched everywhere. And even though they did not see it, they still called her names and spread false accusations to the public.

However, they denied the charges levelled against them when the prosecutor, Aliyu Abidin Murtala, read out the charges to them.

The judge, Mallam Nura Yusuf Ahmed, ordered their remand in a correctional facility for denying the charges.

The case has been adjourned until January 4 for hearing of witnesses.
