Three persons were feared dead yesterday in Bori, Khana LGA of Rivers State when soldiers from the 2 Brigade Command of the Nigerian Army in Port Harcourt went to the community in search of an ex-militant, Solomon Ndigbara.
The heavily armed soldiers searched the country home of the former militant leader in Yeghe and took over the community.
A close associate of the ex-militant leader, Dum Nwine, told our reporter that the soldiers ransacked Ndigbara’s house but his whereabouts were unknown, just as the entire community were deserted.
The action did not go down well with youths of area who went on rampage and burnt down the campaign office of Senator Magnus Abe, Senatorial Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), whom they accused along with another member of the party of masterminding the raid. Three youths reportedly lost their lives in the fracas.
When contacted, police spokesman, Ahmad Muhammad, said it was a military operation but that normalcy had returned to the affected community. There was no response from the army at the time of filing this report.
